About & methodology
Most license guides are static articles. We do it differently:
- Official sources only. Each value links to the state regulator (or, where noted, the regulator's contracted exam vendor's candidate bulletin).
- Dated. Every value shows the date it was last checked.
- No guessing. If we couldn't find a value on an official source, it says Not published.
- Verification level. Values marked needs manual re-verify could only be seen in a search extract because the official page blocks automated reads; they are queued for human review. Values labeled Exam vendor candidate bulletin come from the regulator's contracted testing vendor. A fingerprint figure may be a criminal-record check fee where that is what the state requires (noted per state).
- Change detection. A script re-fetches every source URL, hashes the relevant text, and records differences in the changes log.
Total minimum state fees = exam fee + license/application fee + fingerprint fee. Excludes tuition, Live Scan service fees, retakes and E&O premiums.
Coverage today: 316 of 510 data points across 51 states.
