Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 16, 2026
This policy explains how LicensingWise ("we", "us") at licensingwise.com handles information. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect
- Newsletter / change alerts: if you subscribe, your email address, the state(s) you choose, and the subscription date. Subscriptions are processed by our email provider Buttondown, which may record opens/clicks and technical data as described in its own privacy policy.
- Technical data: our hosting/CDN provider (Cloudflare) processes IP addresses, browser type, and request logs to deliver and secure the site.
- Emails you send us: your address and message.
- Local preferences: the site stores your light/dark theme choice in your browser's local storage. This never leaves your device.
We do not run advertising, do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How we use it
To send the newsletter/alerts you asked for, run and secure the site, answer messages, and comply with law. Legal bases (for EU/UK visitors): consent (newsletter), legitimate interests (security, site operation).
Affiliate links
When you click an affiliate link (e.g., Aceable), you go to a third-party site that may set its own cookies to attribute the referral. Their privacy policies apply.
Sharing
Only with service providers acting for us (Buttondown, Cloudflare, our email provider) or when required by law. We never sell your data.
Retention
Subscriber data is kept until you unsubscribe, then deleted within 90 days except minimal records needed to honor the opt-out. Server logs are kept per provider defaults (typically short-term).
Your rights
- Everyone: unsubscribe via the link in any email; ask us to access or delete your data.
- California (CCPA/CPRA) and other US state privacy laws: you may request to know, delete, and correct personal information, and opt out of sale/sharing (we do not sell or share). We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights. (Note: these laws likely do not apply to a site of our size, but we honor these requests voluntarily.)
- EU/UK (GDPR): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, withdraw consent, and complain to your local data protection authority.
Send requests to [email protected]. We respond within 30 days (45 for California).
International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries, using appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).
Children
The site is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will update the date above when this policy changes.
